J. A. Jones & Sons is proud to be Plant Healthy Certified for the fourth consecutive year:

"This certification is a testament to the hard work of all our staff who maintain strict biosecurity standards                             throughout our sites".

With open borders and the continued rise of plant imports, the threat of foreign diseases has significantly increased. These diseases have the potential to inflict a significant impact on both ornamental and commercial horticulture. In recent times, such diseases identified include Xylella fastidiosa (a most destructive bacterial infection which affects a wide range of host plants), Ash dieback (now found throughout the United Kingdom) and Oak Processionary Moth (spreading slowly from the London Area in all directions).

A plant healthy certification helps identify a business that trades and grows plants to the high plant health and biosecurity standard. With input from the government, Plant Healthy sets out key requirements to achieve success in plant health management.

J. A. Jones & Sons has robust biosecurity protocols in place throughout the nursery, including a ban on importing plant stock from infected areas. This includes the total ban on importing Olive trees of any size, which while popular with landscapers, are a major Xylella host.
